Conker Cup 2020 - COVID Edition

These are challenging times, but they will not stop the Conker Cup. This year’s tournament will be played in COVID-safe rounds called Nut-Bubbles.

Format

  • Each Nut-Bubble has a maximum of six contenders, and each contender plays three bouts.
  • A win scores two points and a draw scores one. The winner of each group is promoted to the next round.
  • If two contenders tie at the top of the table, a sudden-death bout is played between them.
  • All matches are played outdoors. Contenders facing opponents from a different Nut-Bubble must wear face masks (conker face masks are available in the Conker Cup shop).
  • Each Nut-Bubble must appoint a Conker Sheriff to oversee its bouts and ensure that the Conker Cup Tournament Rules are followed. A Conker Sheriff who is also a contender must appoint a deputy while competing.

Registration and equipment

Under the COVID rules, rounds can be played at a location convenient for each Nut-Bubble. Every Nut-Bubble must register with Conker Cup by emailing hello@conkercup.com with a list of its contenders, before the first nut is swung on 10th October.

Each Nut-Bubble will receive a tournament pack of 20 pre-drilled Class 2 conkers and six regulation laces. At the end of the event, email Conker Cup with the winner’s name and the number of their three conkers that remain intact.

We ask that footage or photographs of the event are captured and shared with Conker Cup.

Happy swinging.
