What the heck is a Nut Drop?
Autumn plays host to many things. Cosy weather, snuggly jumpers, and most of all - conkers. Every year, seeds fall from horse chestnut trees. These are known as conkers. According to the smart folks at The Woodland Trust, conkers are pretty much good to go after being picked up off the ground. But real nut swingers will know that the sooner you pick a conker up after falling, the better chance you have of it being fit and strong (conkers left too long may become weak and soggy unless laid down to mature properly). You’ll know your conker is competition ready if it’s hardened and ripened in the middle.
There’s no better way to commence the upcoming conker season than by getting together with your friends and family to spend a day collecting as many good ones as you can. This year’s Nut Drop will take place on 23rd October, if you are struggling to organise something for yourself, why not come along to the original Nut Drop experience.
Known as the leading ‘non-playing’ conker enthusiasts get-together, the annual Conker Cup Nut Drop is a great way to meet new friends, suss out your competition and find out what to expect for the upcoming Conker Cup.
